• AV Fistula First is a breakthrough initiative to increase AVF use by hemodialysis patients for whom they are appropriate.
   
• We are working together to meet KDOQI guidelines and the CMS stretch goal of increasing the percentage of hemodialysis patients using AVFs to 66% by 2009 nationwide.
   
• As of 2006, 42% of hemodialysis patients use AVFs, which is a 27% increase in AVF use rates since the initiative began in 2003.
